Ebola: Emergency Preparedness and Response in Ontario

Toronto | Oct 31, 2014

The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care is monitoring the Ebola virus situation overseas. The ministry has also taken measures to ensure the province’s health sector is prepared should a returning traveler from a country where the Ebola virus is circulating be suspected of having the disease. On October 30, 2014 the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) issued a Directive for Acute Care Settings concerning precautions and procedures for Ebola virus disease (EVD).

Health care workers and health sector employers may contact the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care's Health Care Provider Hotline by phone at 1-866-212-2272 or by email at emergencymanagement.moh@ontario.ca with any questions or concerns about Ontario's health system readiness for EVD.
