| Applicants Who Are Registered in Other Canadian Jurisdictions For registrants/licensees of another dental hygiene regulatory body in Canada applying under the Ontario Labour Mobility Act, 2009 (OLMA). Introduction The OLMA facilitates the registration of those applicants who are registered as dental hygienists in other Canadian jurisdictions without the requirement of an assessment of their program of study in dental hygiene or further examinations. The exception to this is that graduates of non-accredited dental hygiene programs must successfully complete a clinical competency evaluation set or approved by the CDHO. To request an application, please forward your contact information to Vivian Ford at vford@cdho.org indicating what Canadian jurisdiction you are registered in. Jurisprudence Part of the registration process includes showing familiarity with the rules and regulations that govern dental hygiene in Ontario. It is anticipated that the registration regulations will be amended in the near future to require successful completion of an approved jurisprudence course. To accommodate this requirement, the CDHO has developed an on-line course-- Jurisprudence Education Module. Although there is no fee to complete the module, the initial registration application fee must be submitted when registering to take the examination portion of the module. This can be paid on-line. Alternatively, you can choose to successfully complete an approved jurisprudence course of study at your own cost. For information on approved educators, please contact the College. Refresher Course/Professional Competency Assessment If you have not practised dental hygiene in a recognized jurisdiction within the three years prior to registering with the College, you must successfully complete a refresher course or professional competency assessment set or approved by the Registration Committee. Contact the CDHO prior to participating in a refresher course to ensure that it is approved. Fees
Once a completed application has been submitted, it takes approximately five to 10 business days to process. To verify if you are registered, you can check on-line at Find an RDH on this website. If your name is listed, you are registered. You cannot practise dental hygiene in Ontario until you are registered with the CDHO. |
